Mrs Muriel Mackay

Muriel Windeyer Meredith was born at Raymond Terrace in 1892. In 1913 she married William Hooke Mackay Jnr divorcing in 1933 in a blaze of publicity.

She had flair, style and a wardrobe to match. An independent thinker, leader in the early CWA, a champion equestrienne and member of the polo set.

Muriel was a notable socialite on the Hunter Valley, Sydney and London circuits. She drove ambulances in France during WW11 and then moved into films after the war.
